More Nursery Pictures as the Big Day Gets Closer

It has been a crazy few weeks as Michael and I have resumed the rhythm of our usual lives. School (both UT and Coppell) is in high gear and I am busy all the time. As I type this, Micheal is sitting in a hotel room in Atlanta, GA getting ready for a busy week there. It is likely we won't see each other until next Sunday due to or crazy schedules.

Mom and Dan came up this weekend and we made lots of progress on the nursery! Almost everything is done. The curtains, cornice boards, shelves, mirror and ceiling fan have been hung. Now we need to finish putting the decorative touches on things and we should be good to go.

One of the very sweet moms from the school met us at Babies R Us on Saturday we have (finally) registered.

I am starting to see the doctor every two weeks and things are going to be very busy until just before Landry comes. We will keep everyone updated as things change.

Michael and I have been working very hard over the last few weeks to get Landry's nursery ready. Michael and mom painted her room last weekend and dad and Michael got the crib together this weekend. We have all her furniture and found a rocker/swivel chair this weekend that we need to get recovered. Mom fixed the hamper and we worked together to make the cornice boards. Enjoy the pictures!

I talked to the doctor's nurse today. I passed the glucose test I took last week, but I am slightly anemic. I will start taking another iron supplement tomorrow and we will see how that goes. Other than that, I feel great. Landry is moving all the time now.

It is hard to believe our little girl will be here in about 3 months! WOW! Where does the time go?

It's a GIRL!

This morning Michael and I went to see Dr. Flowers. We had a very detailed sonogram and our "critter" cooperated. It turns out we are having a little girl! This came as a surprise to me as I had convinced myself it was a little boy, and it was confirmation for Michael who has been certain it was a girl from the beginning! We have decided to name her Landry Nickole. Landry looks just fine. We were able to see her heart, stomach, kidneys, bladder, spine and leg bones. She weighs just over 1 pound and is on track for a December 1st arrival!

I have gained just 10 pounds and am feeling fine. I have had some cramps in my legs over the last few nights and Dr. Flowers recommended I eat more bananas and strawberries (hardly a chore).

We are posting a picture of our little girl for everyone to see. Now it is time to really get to work on the nursery!

A Very Busy Summer

It's hard to believe it has been almost two months since our last post. Needless to say - we have been very busy! Michael and I only see each other about 3 days a week since I am traveling to Austin to work on my doctorate this summer. He is (as always) amazingly supportive and I know we will both feel a sense of triumph in August when my first 12 hours are completed!

We have been working hard to prepare for Baby Harrell and in a stroke of sheer luck we stumbled across the perfect nursery furniture for our little "critter" at a local consignment shop in late May. The furniture is actually a sample from the Dallas furniture show and it has never been used! We brought it home a few weeks ago and have started the process of putting everything together for the nursery. ( I will post pictures of the furniture in the next few days.)

As I mentioned in May, our doctor recommended a great deal of testing due to my "advanced age." To date we have had tests for several genetic disorders and all of them have come back negative. Baby Harrell is very healthy and we are beginning to get excited! The last two weeks have been particularly interesting as I have started to feel Baby H move! At first it was just little nudges and pokes, but now I can sometimes feel the head pushing against my stomach.

On July 24th, we will have our next sonogram, and with a little cooperation will know if it is a boy or girl!

BIG (and unexpected) News

About five weeks ago, Michael and I were surprised to learn that after twelve and a half years of marriage we would be visited by the stork (and Santa Claus) in December. Of course, the latter was a given, Santa always comes to see us, but the stork has never come around and to be honest, we didn't believe he existed.

Now that the shock has worn off, we are beginning our preparations for the big day. We have established this blog to keep everyone "in the know" and not clog up your e-mails with pictures and updates.

We are going to have several genetic tests done in the next few weeks, so please keep Michael, baby Harrell and me in your prayers. We will try to update this site once a week.
